2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE
Toyota's 2024 RAV4 unveils a boldly chiseled design, multiple storage options and several safety enhancements to its iconic compact SUV.
The RAV4 lineup includes several powertrain choices for individual preferences and driving scenarios–Hybrid Electric, Plug-in Hybrid Electric and Internal Combustion Engine.
For outdoor adventurers, the RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition provides extra room for passengers, their pets and recreational gear. An elevated body control and well-tuned coil springs ensure cushioned comfort on tough terrain.
Front and rear mudguards handle dirt road grime. Privacy glass between rear and liftgate windows generates a tranquil cabin space atmosphere.
Engineers also have designed an optional Weather Package for heated steering wheel, heated front seats and intuitive rain-sensing windshield wipers with de-icer functions.
Under the Hood
The entry-level 2024 RAV4 offers a 2.5-liter engine with 203 hp and 184 Ib-ft of torque. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Hybrid vehicles get a similar base engine synced to two electric motors and a continuously variable transmission. The RAV4 Hybrid Woodland includes a 2.5-liter engine. The electronic all-wheel drive churns 219 hp and has an EPA-estimated 37 mpg combined rating.
Select drive modes are Eco, EV, Sport, Normal and Trail Drive. Off-road drivers will appreciate the Trail Mode which improves traction in slippery road conditions.
Comfort and Convenience
Toyota's Audio Multimedia system supports Bluetooth phone connectivity,wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Audio affinity.
Procurable is a Wi-Fi connect subscription that offers 4G connection for five devices. An alternative onboard cloud navigation system grants drivers access to latest maps and traffic routing information.
Cargo space is 37.5 cubic feet with rear seats up and 68.9 cubic feet when seats are collapsed. Other storage options include an in-dash tray for small items and reversible floor insert for additional items.
Overhead black roof rails can hold tents, sleeping bags and coolers while a backend cargo carrier accommodates a bicycle or canoe. For long distance road trips, an optional 120-volt inverter can power laptops, cameras, electric shavers and compact coolers.
Safety
The RAV4 includes a long list of standard safety features as part of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (passive and active safety features along with advanced driver assistance systems).
TSS 2.5 includes:
- Pre-Collision System to detect vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists and provide audio/visual alerts and automatic braking in certain conditions.
- Emergency Steering Assist to detect pedestrians and stabilize the driver’s emergency evasive steering maneuvers and help prevent lane departure.
- Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist to notify the driver and provide steering support to keep the vehicle in its lane
- Automatic High Beams to detect preceding or oncoming vehicles and automatically switch between high beam and low beam headlights.
- Road Sign Assist to recognize certain road sign information using a forward-facing camera and display them on the multi-information display.
- Toyota’s Star Safety System, which includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Anti-lock Braking System and Smart Stop Technology.
