The 2023 Tundra introduces the release of a new SX package for the SR5 trim. The stylish appearance highlights dark-colored accents to both the interior and exterior of the full-sized pickup truck.
Toyota offers the Tundra in four eye-catching exteriors– white, magnetic gray metallic, celestial silver metallic and midnight black metallic.
Under the Hood
The base and hybrid version of the Tundra SX version offer a twin-turbo 3.5-liter, V6 engine. It uses Dual Overhead Camshaft valve cylinder heads to generate 389 hp and 479 Ib-ft of torque.
The hybrid powertrain has an output of 437 hp and 583 Ib-ft of torque through a 288-volt sealed nickel-metal hydride battery located under the rear passenger seats.
Both engines are mated to a 10-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with Intelligence.The 10-speed transmission features a Tow/Haul mode that allows the 2022 Tundra tow over 5000 pounds of heavy load in hilly terrains.
Comfort and Convenience
The new SX Package is offered on Double Cab models with a 6.5-foot bed and CrewMax models with the 5.5-foot bed.
An optional panoramic view monitor uses cameras to display a top-down view of the truck on a 14-inch display. To make trailering safer and easier, the additional visibility encompasses the rear truck bed with a rear split view constantly showing both sides of the trailer.
On the outside, customary colors have been replaced with a black body-color trim that includes the outer door handles and rear inboard bumper. Tundra door badges as well as the 4x4 badge on the tailgate have been removed to create a monochromatic outlook.
Inside, the black-colored theme continues and replaces smoked silver accents. The SX package also unveils blacked-out seats and a dashboard complemented by pillars and a contrasting gray headliner..
A cloud-based native navigation system works in tandem with the SX version. It offers Over the Air updates for mapping and Points of Interest. Occupants can use voice-activated commands or the touchscreen to find travel directions or locate points of interest on vacation trips.
Safety
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 driver-assistance suite is available on all trim levels of the 2022 Tundra.It addresses three key areas of accident protection–preventing frontal collisions, keeping drivers within their lane and increasing road safety during nighttime driving.
