The 2024 Toyota bZ4X, the all-electric compact SUV, delivers a striking aerodynamic design, tech focused interior and several safety enhancements from the previous generation.

A notable feature for the 2024 model year is the inclusion of a high-powered onboard charger. The upgraded charging cable is compatible with 120-volt and 240-volt power sources and also includes a display screen that shows battery status and estimated range.

Base XLE model adds an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat and power liftgate for easier access to the cargo area. Toyota’s Advanced Park driver-assistance system also makes a debut on bZ4X Limited models.

An activated hands-free system controls steering, acceleration and braking to help maneuver the SUV into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces.

Under the Hood

A single motor powertrain is fitted to a 63.4 kWh battery pack generating 201 hp and 196 Ib-ft of max torque. The alternate dual-motor option has a 65.5 kWh pack which offers 214 hp and 248 Ib-ft of torque power.

Both XLE and Limited models offer a versatile recharge system, supporting Level 1 and 2 AC charging and Level 3 DC repowering capability.

The entry-level XLE has an EPA-estimated range of 252 miles for FWD models and 228 miles on AWD-equipped versions.

For the Limited trim, the 2024 bZ4X offers an EPA rating of 236 miles with front-wheel drive and up to 222 miles with all-wheel drive.

Comfort and Convenience

Standard features for Toyota’s battery-electric vehicle include leatherette upholstery, LED lighting, dual-zone climate control with rear seating area vents and a six-speaker boombox.

Other interior highlights include a minimalist dashboard layout with a double-level center console. There is a convenient compartment for stowing valuables and floor level tray for personal items or small luggage.

A 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen syncs with dual smartphone pairing and offers wireless Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto connectivity. The bZ4X’s 7-inch digital cluster provides real-time traffic updates, gridlock alerts and weather information through its cloud-based navigation.

Passengers can enjoy a variety of entertainment options with an in-cabin Wi-Fi hotspot. Infotainment benefits include streaming music and movies, playing online games and staying connected with loved ones via social media or video calls.

The 2024 bZ4X SUV provides 41.1 inches of legroom for front passengers and 35.3 inches for rear seat occupants.

An elongated wheelbase for the electrified SUV increases cargo volume to 27.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 56.9 cubic feet with rear seats folded down. A flexible headboard located behind the back seats creates an opening to add another 1.3 cubic feet of storage space in the cargo hold.

Safety

XLE and Limited models are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0—an advanced suite of safety and driver-assistance features.

The all-electric SUV also includes Safe Exit as a standard feature. This system detects when vehicles or cyclists approach from the rear and warns of a potential collision when a door opens or a passenger exits the vehicle.

Panoramic View Monitor with Perimeter Scan is a 360-degree overhead view that works in low-speed drive and reverse. The range of vision significantly enhances road awareness and helps drivers avoid imminent hazards that might be missed relying solely on car mirrors.

An additional Curb View option uses a front passenger side camera to avoid wheel or tire damage when parking near the curb.

Standard features:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Road Sign Assist
  • Proactive Driving Assist
