All-new Tacoma: A Shot of ‘Ahh!’ With A Heavy Dose of ‘Right On!’

The 2024 Tacoma gives plenty of ways to enjoy your next excursion and introduction of Toyota’s i-Force Max powertrain.

The all-new 2024 Tacoma inspires Toyota's legendary off-road legacy with a choice of high performing powertrains, upscale comfort and savvy safety tech.

New model features a robust lineup of eight midsize pickup trucks along with the debut of the i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain.

Drivers can add fully boxed ladder frame, four-wheel disc brakes, electric power steering and frictionless multilink coil-spring rear suspension. Other options include power-operated tailgate, front stabilizer disconnect bar and adaptive damping system for stability on spring or summer roads.

Under the Hood

Toyota’s 2024 Tacoma offers two powertrain options. The 2.4-liter turbocharged i-FORCE MAX gas engine produces 278 hp and 317 Ib-ft of torque. A compact 1.87-kWh battery pack energizes the hybrid powertrain to churn a combined output of 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.

An advanced 8-speed automatic transmission selects the appropriate gears in different driving conditions. The automatic transmission empowers sporty control with its sequential shift mode. An intelligent uphill/downhill logic maximizes performance and efficiency in challenging terrain.

By leveraging its 8-speed range, the transmission maintains the engine in an optimal RPM band and conserves fuel for highway cruises. Uphill logic regulates gear ratios to provide supplementary engine power in hilly and mountainous areas.

Downshifts during descents reduce the need for constant braking which causes an overheating of brake pads.

Comfort and Convenience

Entry-level models get a brand-new 8-inch HD multimedia system. An optional 14-inch upgrade is available on higher trims.

A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with selectable gauges also comes standard on all models.

Customizable information allows drivers to keep a watchful eye on tire pressure in unpredictable spring weather and monitor summer temperatures with children in the car.

The 2024 Tacoma features a convenient dashboard shelf perfectly sized for sunglasses, phones and wallets within arm’s reach on journeys. Adventure-ready MOLLE panels mounted on the center console and doors keep essentials organized and ready for use at a moment’s notice.

Hydration packs, first-aid kits, multi-tools and GPS pouches can have designated spots for quick access in emergency situations. Built-in data ports and charging stations provide endless entertainment for kids to keep their devices powered up for games, movies and educational apps.

Toyota’s Tacoma is fitted with an immersive 10-speaker premium audio setup for spontaneous singalongs and listening to favorite podcasts. An optional system available on higher models adds a subwoofer for deeper bass and a detachable Bluetooth speaker with six hours of playing time for outdoor parties.

Truck’s 6,000-lb towing capacity is capable of hauling a cozy pop-up camper, fishing boat or jet skis for a thrilling weekend getaway on a lake. An innovative Trailer Back Guide with Straight Path Assist takes the stress out of maneuvering a camper trailer.

The advanced system automatically steers the Tacoma  to keep the trailer tracking straight while reversing. It controls the steering wheel allowing the driver to only focus on the throttle and brakes.

Tech features also include a crystal-clear 360-degree simulation view of truck and trailer to help drivers navigate tight spots or avoid potential hazards.

Safety

Every i-Force MAX Tacoma prioritizes safe fun during spring and summer excursions with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.

Features:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: Bolsters pedestrian protection in warmer months when there is an increase in pedestrian activity

  • Lane Departure Alert: LDA provides an extra layer of security for distracted and drowsy drivers during long distance travels

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Reduces leg fatigue and keeps a safe distance in stop-and-go traffic

  • Lane Tracing Assist: Maintains lane positioning in low visibility conditions and raises driver confidence on unfamiliar roads.

Lane Tracing Assist takes safety a step further with the inventive Emergency Driving Stop. The system monitors behavior behind the wheel and detects when drivers are inattentive or unresponsive. To minimize potential risks, the feature takes control of the vehicle and brings it  to a safe stop if the driver does not respond to alerts.

The 2024 Tacoma also is equipped with Road Sign Assist. A vigilant system that recognizes speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs and other cautions.

Warning signals are displayed on the instrument panel and keep drivers informed about traffic regulations in unfamiliar areas.
