Meet The Rugged, Dependable 2019 Tacoma

A leading seller in the midsize market for more than a decade, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma looks to build on the legacy of dependability, durability and ruggedness that’s made it a consumer favorite.

Under the Hood

It all starts under the hood for the 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The truck’s base model offers a 2.7-liter DOHC four-cylinder with VVT-i. It produces 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Those needing a bit more oomph may opt for the Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter six-cylinder housing Toyota’s VVT-iW technology. The engine uses both direct-injection and port fuel injection, and delivers 278 horsepower with 265 pound-feet of torque.

Either of these engines can be paired with a six-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with intelligence, while the six-cylinder can be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.

Depending on the grade, and the inclusion of the optional V6 Tow Package, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma can pull up to 6,800 pounds.

Comfort & Convenience

All told, there are 32 configurations to choose from for the 2019 Toyota Tacoma. There are multiple cab options, and each can be paired with two-wheel or four-wheel drive capabilities.

Access Cab versions feature under-seat rear storage space, as well as fold-up seat cushions to maximize carrying space. The Double Cab models enjoy 60/40 split rear seats with adjustable headrests and storage space beneath the seats.

The SX Package provides a black-out theme delivering black-keyed accents likes overfenders, mirror caps, door handles and headlamps, along with a black grille and 16-inch black matte black alloy wheels.

The base Entune Audio system features the Entune Multimedia Bundle, which includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen display with AM/FM CD player, six speakers, auxiliary port and USB media port.

Additionally, the base package offers advanced voice recognition, hands-free phone capability, phone book access and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology and an integrated backup camera display.

Along with Toyota Safety Sense, a suite of driver-assistance and safety technologies, the 2019 Tacoma enjoys the Star Safety System standard.

This array of technology includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, an Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Smart Stop brake override technology.
